Turn Your Next Review Day into a Block Party

How does your review day stack up?

From AP exams to end of semester assessments and finals, the fourth quarter of the school year is always full of all sorts of summative review days where students do their very best to make sense of all manner of course content. But for far too many classrooms, these days where we look back on everything that we’ve learned typically amount to students staring blankly at the screens of their devices and mindlessly mashing buttons through what is little more than a brightly colored guessing game.

The end result? A “game” that’s high on fun factor, but low on actual learning.

That’s where EMC² Learning comes in.

This week, we’re thrilled to invite Engagement Engineers and their classes to a chance to take their review day pedagogy to a whole new level of fun (and rigor) with Tower Topplers. All you’ll need to get started is:

  • A big old stack of sticky notes
  • A tub of LEGO bricks
  • A set of six measuring spoons (wait, what?! Yup. Measuring spoons!)

And here’s the best part: with minimal advance prep, Tower Topplers is built to span the duration of every bit of two full class periods or more! That gives you off the charts replay value, and translates to higher engagement with even lower prep than it would normally take to write up a whole bunch of multiple choice style questions for one of those fancy online guessing games.

So what are you waiting for? Give a click to topple the competition and level up your review day!

Looking to help your students develop a keener eye for detail as they spot check literally HUNDREDS of work products generated by their classmates? Repetition and consistency is the name of the game with Tower Topplers, which is designed to create a perpetual motion machine of student-centered excitement and review.

Picture a looping three step process of nonstop peer review. With virtually ZERO prep, your students will be:

  • Diving back into their textbooks for key information
  • Checking over the work of their classmates
  • Building 3D models of what they’ve learned

Again, and again, and again! And to add even more life and replay value to this tip-top approach to student-centered content review, we’ve even gone ahead and spun up 10 different themed variants of the same game to help transport your classrooms everywhere from deserted islands to big city skylines.

The activities featured in this blog post are just a handful of the 700+ resources available in the EMC² Learning library. This entire library is available to Engagement Engineers and members of the Creative Corps, and is included with your annual site membership. We hope you’ll consider joining us as an Engagement Engineer to unlock a full year of site access. For complete details including our exclusive limited time offer for annual site membership, click here.
