Capture The Madness and Mania of March Sports

Are you ready for the Madness and Mania of March?

Whether you’re a college basketball devotee, an armchair baseball scout, or a loyal fan of pro wrestling – these next few weeks are full of some of the most drama and excitement in all of sports. This week, brackets everywhere are getting busted as the NCAA college basketball tournament is in full swing. And next week marks the arrival of Major League Baseball’s opening day and the 39th annual Wrestlemania!

Here at EMC² Learning, we proudly keep a finger on the pulse of what’s trending in the world around us to help teachers tap into what’s hot with our students to provide engagement at the speed of life. In fact, our ever-expanding platform of student-centered resources now features a whopping 591 fully editable activities (and counting!) – and we are hard at work to knock it out of the park by crossing the 600 resource milestone by April 1 of this year.

If you’re an Engagement Engineer or a member of the Creative Corps in search of some high-energy activities to keep your classes on the edge of their seat right up until the final buzzer sounds at the start of Spring Break — there has truly never been a better time to get in the game and bring this kind of student-centered excitement into your lesson plans!

All New Ways to Get In The Game

Let’s face it: While old-school Jeopardy might seem fun at first glance, there is a sharp drop off in student engagement once players figure out that they’ve been mathematically eliminated from winning the game. And for all its shimmer and shine, new-school tech solutions like Kahoot actually do little to correct this shortcoming — as students mindlessly buzz in as fast as they can with little regard for the right answer simply because they only care about getting the highest number of points.

What’s worse: teachers often devote hours to dreaming up all of those multiple choice review questions. Yet our students spend more time on the bench than in the game.

We think that students deserve more than button mashing, and it’s high time to change the game. That’s why EMC² Learning is home to an all-star lineup of some super low prep, low tech alternatives to the two biggest review game staples of yesteryear. So whether you’re looking to take a swing at close reading with the All Star Slam, or try your hand at student-centered peer review with a Superstar Sentence Smackdown, we’ve got a jam-packed playbook full of ideas that will leave your students cheering for more!

EMC² Learning is home to more than 500 fully editable resources for any course or content area. Engagement Engineers and members of the Creative Corps enjoy a full year of access to each of these resources on demand. We hope you’ll consider joining us to unlock a full year of site access. For complete details including our exclusive limited time offer for annual site membership, click here.
