A Few Coaching Thoughts

Start Smaller Than You Think

Don’t try to redesign an entire unit this week. Choose one lesson, one activity, or one discussion. Learn from it, refine it, and let that success build momentum.

Trust the Process

Growth isn’t always neat. Students need time to develop new ways of thinking, and you need time to develop new ways of teaching. Give both yourself and your students permission to grow.

Keep Moving Forward

Every lesson teaches us something. Reflect on what worked, adjust what didn’t, and remember that consistent improvement always beats occasional perfection.

Before You Plan Your Next Lesson

Think about one lesson you’ll teach this week.

Ask yourself:

“What’s one small change I could make that would help students do a little more of the thinking?”

Then give yourself permission to stop there.

Trade the pressure to transform everything for the confidence to improve something.
