The new year’s bubbly hasn’t even been popped, and EMC² Learning is already packing its bags. We’re thrilled (and honored!) to be heading back to one of our favorite edtech events of the year: the Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC), taking place this January at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
FETC is big… and we mean big! Each year, tens of thousands of educators, leaders, innovators, and solution-seekers descend on Orlando for four days of learning, networking, and inspiration. With hundreds of sessions, workshops, vendors, and conversations happening simultaneously, FETC is an absolute joy to be a part of in person, as it truly feels like a full-scale celebration of what’s possible when teaching, technology, and creativity collide.
And this year, EMC² Learning is right in the middle of the action.
If you’re attending FETC 2026, there are lots of chances to connect with EMC² Learning’s very own John Meehan throughout the week—whether you’re looking for hands-on learning, fast-paced inspiration, or big ideas you can bring back to your classroom immediately.
John will be serving as Lead Presenter across multiple formats, including:
Interactive Workshops
Two hour long deep dives into playful pedagogy, gamification, and designing learning experiences that go far beyond sit-and-get instruction.
Speed Learning Labs
Five minutes of fast, focused sessions packed with practical strategies you can implement right away—no fluff, no filler. Think “speed dating for great teaching.” Wanna’ play!?
Poster Presentation
This year we’re pulling out all the stops and joining the poster expo for innovative instruction! Stop by to explore AI-proof assessment design and alternative ways to measure learning in an age of artificial intelligence. Spoiler: if you come by to snap a photo or a selfie, we might even be giving away a bunch of freebies for your troubles.
(No seriously, our poster is shaping up to super cool).
In addition, John will also be participating in an author book signing during the conference—another great chance to say hello, talk shop, and connect around shared ideas and experiences.
There’s a reason we keep coming back to FETC year after year.
This conference brings together educators who care deeply about their craft, who are willing to experiment, iterate, and rethink what learning can look like in a rapidly changing world. It’s a place where big ideas meet classroom-ready practice—and where conversations don’t stop when the sessions end.
We’re honored to return once again and to contribute to a community that consistently pushes the profession forward.
And of course, some of the best conversations at FETC happen outside the conference walls.
Whether it’s grabbing a bite, sharing a beverage, or even spending an afternoon talking teaching, games, and ideas at one of our favorite Orlando-area theme parks once the conference day wraps up—we’d love to connect. FETC week has a way of turning chance encounters into lasting professional friendships, and we’re always up for a good conversation about learning done right!
(no joke about the whole “or join us in the theme parks” thing. We’d love to see you! This is an actual photo of the FETC after hours fun when John caught up with friend, author, and amazing North Carolina-based math teacher Justin Owens at FETC in 2024).
If you’re headed to FETC 2026, make sure EMC² Learning is on your radar. Come learn with us, laugh with us, challenge your thinking—and most importantly, play with purpose.
Orlando, here we come!
